VJ V4210-D Solvent Chip Rejected: What to Check Before Calling Service
Release time:
2026-10-10
A VJ V4210-D that rejects a fresh solvent cartridge: how to read the error code, clean the chip contacts, verify the reference and rule out the reader.

Summary: A rejected solvent cartridge on a VJ V4210-D is not always a chip fault. Work through five checks in order: read the exact error code, clean the chip contacts, verify the cartridge reference against firmware, test the reader with a known-good cartridge, and only then decide whether to adjust the cleaning interval or replace the part.
A VJ V4210-D that refuses a fresh solvent cartridge usually gets blamed on the chip. Half the time it is not the chip at all.
The printer reads three things from that cartridge: fluid identity, fill level and batch data. If any one of them does not line up, the coder stops the cycle and shows a rejection. Work through the list below before you book a service visit.
1. Read the Error Code Properly
Write the exact code down. A cartridge-not-recognised fault and a fluid-expired fault look similar on the panel and take different routes from here. Notes made at the machine beat notes made from memory an hour later.
2. Check the Contact Side First
Pull the cartridge and look at the chip contacts. Solvent mist, dried ink and a thin film of dust all break the read. Wipe with a lint-free cloth and the correct cleaning fluid, let it dry, reseat and try again. Most rejections die right here.
3. Confirm the Cartridge Belongs to This Unit
Two references sit next to each other on the shelf and one is for a different platform. Check the part number against your own register and against the firmware revision on the machine. A cartridge from a different build will read as foreign no matter how clean the contacts are.
4. Rule Out the Reader Itself
Try a cartridge you know worked yesterday. If that one also fails, the fault has moved to the head or the reader board, not the fluid. Now you have narrowed a service call down to one component instead of the whole machine.
5. Then Decide: Adjust or Replace
If the contacts were dirty and the fault clears, log it and change the cleaning interval. If the reader is dead, replacement is the honest answer. Keep the failed cartridge and its batch number. A supplier who traces batches will want it, and a supplier who does not will change how you place the next order.
