Fastjet-Maschinen stehen selten in Vorzeigebetrieben. Sie laufen in Lohnverpackungen, in Kabelwerken, auf kleinen Gewürz- und Snacklinien, und viele wurden gebraucht gekauft: aufgestellt, und seitdem drucken sie Chargennummern, ohne dass jemand genauer nachfragt. Genau deshalb ist die Verbrauchsseite unangenehm. Die Maschine hat wenig gekostet, Originalpreise für den Chip will niemand zahlen, und ein Chip, der auf einem Gerät liest und auf dem daneben nicht, ärgert mehr als alles andere.

Einkauf in Großmengen ist eine andere Arbeit als eine Tüte für den Reparaturwagen. Es geht um mehr Geld, um echte Risiken, und Fehler wandern weiter.

Warum eine Fastjet-Flotte schwerer zu versorgen ist als sie aussieht

Zwei Geräte mit demselben Typenschild können fünf Jahre auseinanderliegen. Die Steuerplatine dazwischen wurde geändert, und der Chip, der auf einer frühen Platine passt, passt nicht immer auf eine spätere.

Händler lernen das teuer: eine Rolle wird über ein Gebiet verteilt, und im selben Monat kommen drei Kunden mit derselben Reklamation zurück. Die Lösung ist keine größere Rolle, sondern eine Revisionsübersicht: welche Chiprevision zu welcher Firmware-Generation gehört. Eine Seite, aktualisiert, sobald sich etwas ändert.

Was der Chip abgleichen muss

Drei Dinge, in dieser Reihenfolge: die Identifikationsdaten, die die Steuerung erwartet; das Format und der Zeitpunkt, in dem sie ankommen; und die Firmware-Generation auf der Platine, die sie liest.

Über die ersten beiden reden alle. Am dritten zerbrechen Angebote. Fragen Sie, gegen welchen Firmware-Bereich eine konkrete Produktionscharge getestet wurde und wann — und Sie wissen schnell, ob Sie mit einem Hersteller sprechen oder mit einem Wiederverkäufer und einer Kiste voller Tüten.

Ein Angebot wie ein Einkäufer lesen

Ein brauchbares Angebot nennt Kartuschenfamilie, Chiprevision, Firmware-Bereich und Testdatum. Alles Kürzere ist eine Ausgangsposition, kein Preis.

Achten Sie auf eine Teilenummer, die still zwei Revisionen abdeckt. Meist liegt eine alte Rolle im Lager, die nie abgeschrieben wurde. Später zeigt sich das als zwei oder drei Ausfälle auf hundert, die niemand zurückverfolgen kann, und es kostet mehr als die vermeintliche Ersparnis.

Auch der Stückpreis schmeichelt sich selbst. Bezahlt wird der Chip an Ort und Stelle: Fracht, Ausschuss, eine Lieferung mit falscher Revision und die Stunde, in der ein Techniker herausfindet, welches dieser drei Dinge die Linie gestoppt hat.

Die Frage nach der gemischten Kiste

Mindestmengen für Chips werden pro Tüte gerechnet. Das passt dem Lieferanten und bestraft jeden mit gemischtem Maschinenpark. Es gibt immer eine Kartuschenfamilie, die kaum läuft — und genau die stoppt eine Linie.

Bestehen Sie auf der gemischten Kiste. Für einen Händler entscheidet diese eine Zusage, ob das Regal Geld verdient oder ein Jahr Kapital bindet. Wenn der Lieferant ablehnt, fragen Sie, was das Mischen wirklich kostet. Manchmal ist es Logistik. Oft ist es Gewohnheit.

An der Maschine testen, die sie fahren wird

Ein Prüfstand beweist bei einem Kodier-Chip fast nichts. Die Ausfälle, auf die es ankommt, zeigen sich nach einer Stunde Dauerbetrieb, nicht in den ersten zehn Minuten, und sie zeigen sich auf der Platine, die liest, nicht auf dem Prüfstand, der versorgt.

Also testen Sie auf dem Gerät, das die Charge tatsächlich fährt, über eine ganze Schicht, und legen Sie einen Chip jeder Charge in eine beschriftete Tüte mit Datum. Ein Jahr später beantwortet diese Tüte Fragen, die kein E-Mail-Verlauf beantwortet.

Lagerregeln, die niemand aufschreibt

Ein Chip ist keine Tinte. Er läuft nicht zu dem Datum ab, das auf der Tüte steht — und genau deshalb macht er Probleme. Eine Rolle kann drei Jahre liegen, zwei Firmware-Updates auf der Maschine überstehen, für die sie gekauft wurde, und dann verbaut werden, weil sie vorne lag.

Zwei Gewohnheiten lösen fast alles: beim Wareneingang die Firmware-Version auf die Tüte schreiben, nicht die Typenbezeichnung. Und gegen die Maschine rotieren, für die die Tüte gekauft wurde, denn ein Chip, der auf einem Gerät einwandfrei ist, kann zwei Meter weiter Ausschuss sein.

Wo Händler still Geld verlieren

Wiederverkäufer kalkulieren pro Tüte und vergessen die Rücksendungen. Jede zurückkommende Tüte mit falscher Revision ist Fracht in beide Richtungen plus ein Kunde, der ab jetzt vor der Bestellung testet und damit jeden weiteren Auftrag langsamer macht.

Messen Sie zwei Zahlen: die Erstpassungsquote und Rücksendungen pro hundert versandter Tüten. Beide sind billig zu erfassen und sagen mehr über einen Lieferanten als jede Preisliste. Über 98 Prozent hält die Marge. Unter 95 ist die billige Tüte die teure.

Drei Fragen vor jeder Nachbestellung

Welcher Firmware-Bereich, getestet wann? Was passiert mit dem Tütenaufkleber, wenn die Revision mitten in der Charge wechselt? Und wen ruft man um zwei Uhr nachts an, wenn eine neue Tüte nicht liest?
